Are there any difference between forex trading transactions in demo account and live account?

June 26, 2009

Reply me in aspect of profit earned through demo account. Can i resemble the same in live account.

Most often they are the same. The only different is your trading patern when trading in demo (not your money) vs trading with your real hard earned money. It's all about the psychology of trading.

Good luck.

Depending on the broker, there can be lots of differences. For one, I have seen some brokers really increase their pip spread right before news announcements.

Perhaps the bigger issue though will be how you will react psychologically when trading real money vs trading paper money. For me, that was the biggest thing to overcome.

Looking at some of the forex spread trading sites there is no difference in the spread size of real money account and the demo account.

As some of the other answers state though, there is often a large psychological difference in how you trade the two different types of account.

Having said that, you can sometimes see different prices for real money accounts and demo accounts. Eg financialspreads.com and tradefair both offer live prices for real money accounts (naturally) but their demo account prices are on a 15 minute delay.

That may explain why you are seeing some discrepancies.

In a demo account there is no guarantee that you will have the same spreads and be able to have all your trades placed. If you go with a reputable broker the results should be almost exactly the same as they will use the same system for both demo and live accounts. You can find some reputable brokers at http://www.forexlane.com/brokers.html

live account is real money – no guarantees of profit in investing in currencies or equities – you could lose all your money with currency trading

For me in the beginning, it's not the same but if comparing long term it's almost the same.

This is because I get very nervous when I first start trading in real money at any time but when I feel comfortable I don't feel nervous anymore.

Demo accounts and live accounts are exactly the same except that demos use fake money and live ones use real money. Most brokers offer demo accounts for new traders so they can get used to forex trading before they start playing with their real money.

When I started trading, I found a great resource for finding brokers that offer both demo and live accounts: http://www.forexpros.com/brokers/

Here you can specifically search for brokers that offer demo and/or live accounts as well as those that offer any type of specific service or are located in a given area.

Generally in demo accounts you would not be using real money. its one way of gauging your skills and talents in forex trading. If you are really good at it and feel that you are making money then it is time to move on with the live account.

As we all know, forex is a rather tricky field so its best to really know the topic well. try to read all the relevant articles available and get tips from the experts on this topic. a lot of online sites have free help tools to help you on this field.
